Bad hair day part II

Twee weken en twee dagen geleden startte ik met een nieuw persoonlijk projectje.

Als gevolg van mijn frustratie over allerlei haarmiddeltjes die niet doen wat ze beloven te doen en bovendien zo duur zijn dat je haar spontaan uitvalt bij het horen van de prijs, tikte ik op de mooie dinsdag 10 juni ll de magische woorden: "haar wassen zonder shampoo" in op Google.

Tijdens het lezen bleek al gauw dat de enige manier om je haar te wassen zonder shampoo, betekent je haar helemaal niet meer wassen. Ik twijfelde niet lang, ik zou het proberen. 

Op mijn FooDsteps Facebookpagina deelde ik mijn plan en ik kreeg hierbij steun en advies van mensen die het zelf deden of die anderen kenden die het doen. Zo gek is het dus niet, dacht ik, ik voelde me gesterkt.  

FooDie Sam is ook nieuwsgierig en gaat mee de uitdaging aan. 

Ondertussen houden we elkaar op de hoogte van onze bevindingen. Ik gun jullie hier graag een blik op onze heen en weer communicatie. 

5dagen zonder shampoo: 15juni

Sam: Ben mee aan het doen met het 'ik was m'n haar niet meer met shampoo' experiment. Ben eens benieuwd of ik het kan volhouden. Als het lukt is dat wel weer heel wat plastiek dat niet meer nodig is :) 

Sara Tof zeg dat je meedoet. Ik heb het laatst op dinsdag mijn haar gewassen, het is al vervelend geweest. Eigenlijk merk ik dat ik wel van dat gevoel van pas gewassen haar hield. Het is niet dat het nu jeukt ofzo maar ik mis precies iets als ik in de douche ga. Het is meer een gewoonte. Ben heel benieuwd hoe het gaat evolueren, ik hou vol.Hou je mij ook op de hoogte hoe het bij jou gaat? Gezonde en chemicaliën vrije groetjes

Sam: Ik heb mijn haar woensdag laatste keer gewassen met shampoo. Ook niet echt jeuk, kan wel mijn haar rechtzetten zonder gel nu :D maar spoel het elke dag uit gewoon met koud water en kam het goe uit. Ben ook benieuwd. 

Haar omhoog zonder gel, nog een voordeel aan het niet wassen! 

7 dagen zonder shampoo: 17juni
Sam Vandaag toch wel heel hard in verleiding gebracht om mijn haar te wassen met shampoo. Het voelt vrij vettig en stug aan. Maar toch kunnen weerstaan. 

8 dagen zonder shampoo: 18juni 
Sara:  Mijn omgeving zegt dat ze er niets raars aan zien,  mijn gevoel is anders, maar ik beslis van hen te geloven, dat is beter voor mijn gemoedsrust. :-)

Sam : Bij mij hebben ze er nog niks op gezegd en mijn ma is normaal heel gevoelig aan zo een dingen :) Dus ik ga er van uit dat het wel meevalt. Ik wil ook volhouden en weten wat het geeft als de hoofdhuid eindelijk weer tot evenwicht is gekomen :)

10 dagen zonder shampoo: 20juni 
Sam: "Het was gisteren nog grappig. Ik dacht kga het nu toch eens aan mijn ma vragen wat ze denkt van mijn haar. En ze dacht dat ik net naar de kapper was geweest :D En dan heeft ze er ook een aan geroken en ze vond het nog lekker ruiken ook. 

10 dagen zonder shampoo: 21juni 
Sara  Hey Vettige Sam,ik ben ook wat meer berust in mijn haar, maar ik wil wel dat het niet meer zo vet aanvoelt en liever nu dan morgen. groetjes, Saar ook met het vettig haar

Sam: idd, het vettige gevoel is nog het ambetantste. Maar normaal nog wat doorbijten en he zou minder vettig moeten worden :)

Los haar en hier al 10 dagen niet gewassen!

16 dagen zonder shampoo: 26juni 
Sam :En hoe is het nog met het vettig kopken? Ik ga na twee weken toch weer door een dipje :p Maar ik zet door!

Ik zet ook door, ondertussen is het al bijna een gewoonte om het niet te wassen. Elke twee dagen maak ik het nat onder de douche. Het blijft nog steeds vettig aanvoelen, maar de omgeving ervaart het niet zo. Zelfs als ik het los laat hangen, krijg ik geen vieze blikken. Na zes weken zou de hoofhuid gereset zijn en geen overmatig talg meer produceren. We zijn nu al goed twee weken bezig, we kunnen er nog wel voor vier extra weken tegenaan!

That's a vow, I made today. 
Yes I do!

Or better 
No I' don't!

Or more true/realistic:
I will try not to from today on and see where it ends. 

Why?
For different raisons

I It's a long time I get sick of all the plastic bottles on my bathroom shelf. 
Here's just a selection, I got rid of many before.
When it' s empty (and it goes fast), the bottle disappears in the garbage: Waist!!

II I tried everything and did not find one descent product to prevent my hair from getting dry, sticky, damaged, plushy or whatever is the meaning of bad hair! 
Contrary, the more conditioner, softener, creme I used the more bad it got and the more expensive the product, the more often I had to use it. 
I think by now every single women knows what I mean, but just one more thing:

Once I was advised to use a specific brand only sold by a hair dresser. It would help my hair not to be frizzling…. If I remember well, but I try to forget, the brand was Kerastase. And what I will never forget, no matter how hard I try is that I gave 53 euro for a pot of 50ml …

I was in shock, couldn't find the words to say I didn't want it. What was inside that creme? Was it gold? Anyway it was so expensive I didn't dare to use it. OMG I should really try to forget harder. 

III Next very good raison: I am stingy and lazy!
I don't like washing my hair, rinsing, waiting for the conditioner to do it's job, rinsing again…
I hate it, I have a lot more interesting things to do outside the shower or I prefer just doing nothing for 5 precious minutes in stead off waiting for a useless chemical product to penetrate the inside of my hair till the roots. Because it's from the inside it does the job, if I can believe the text on the packaging. I am stingy because I hate to spend money on things that do not make my life more happy or easier. 

IV Last and not the least reason: the environment. Shampoo harms the environment . I bought natural bio shampoo at the end, but there still is the plastic packaging to make the things more attractive and easy to buy. I didn't feel comfortable either buying a bio shampoo and it didn't work better or smelled better or whatever did better than the other classic things. 

So today I decided to search for a way to wash your hair without a shampoo. I was pretty sure it exists. 
I typed the words: "haar wassen zonder shampoo"
The first hit on google was the right one… 
In this article I learned that the way to wash your hair without a shampoo, is 
not washing your hair at all ! 

I advice you to read the article it explains very well why we shouldn't use a shampoo and why we should wash ourselves only with water. 

I am convinced and I will go for it, from today on. 
The last time I washed my hair was on Tuesday 10th June, today i's Thursday 12th June so
please mark Tuesday 10th in your history books as the day, that girl you know, washed her hair for the very last time in her life!

What will happen in the next few weeks, is not so attractive.
The skin of the head needs six weeks to start working again as it is programmed and it can go together with an over production of hair fat...

Every two days I will wash the hair only with water and brush it normally, no oil , no gels no nothing I will use ...

Too many Poppies?

There are never too many poppies and there is never too many sand!

Only for this view I would travel around the world!

Sunday afternoon 2pm, three bikers gather together at the chiefz place in Londerzeel. 
Time to take off to Calais for checking the last part of the route of the Transcanal. ( A two days bike event organized by Transactief.)

We only leave at 2 in the afternoon because off the tide. At four the water is low and it allows us to use the hard part of the beach to ride on. At least that's what we hope for, reality tells our legs that the sand is always loose even when it's low tide.

We will ride for 15k over the beach to reach the port of Calais and come back by the inland.
My machine for the day is the Specialized Rumor.

Sand on the beach, some more sand in the dunes, some bunkers, a pursuit of an angry land owner, six flat tires, a lot of fun and a lot of poppies later, we arrive back at the car and leave
with a great feeling of satisfaction.

On the way back we talk the time away through a lot of important and unimportant topics.
But our last words remain in our heads:  the famous words of our ex prime minister Yves Leterme:  "We hebben nood aan vijf minuten politieke moed."  ( We need five minutes of political courage. )
We will spent the next coming time on finding that "courage", isn't it Harre?!
